Can be used to switch from high to low voltage on the transformers with dual output voltages as long as the rated output current is not exceeded for each set of contacts in the switch.

When wired as shown at the bottom of the power supply design page, each secondary coil is wired through one set of contacts so as long as the current rating of the high voltage rating is not more than 15 amps, the switch can be used to switch those voltages. So check the series amperage rating for the transformer you have or will get to make sure it is not over 15 amps and the parallel wiring is not over 30 amps (15 for each pole).

All metals expand when heated so a spring is needed on one end of a resistance wire to take up the expansion when hot.

This spring is usually good for 3 feet or less, or maybe longer.

Do not run current through the spring, it will get very hot and could ruin the temper. Instead use an alligator clip and clip to the loop on the end of the spring where the resistance wire attaches.

3 feet of Nichome 60 or 80, Rene 47, or Kanthal A-1 will all expand about 1/4" when heated to 1100F.
